Food Plot Size Calculator (Acres & Square Feet)
Pace it: count your steps along each side and multiply by your step length.

0.459 acres (20,000 sq ft)
Start from your soil-test lab's recommendations and your state extension's planting dates. Always follow product labels.
Acres = square feet ÷ 43,560. A 200 × 100 ft plot is 20,000 sq ft = 0.46 acres. For odd shapes, average the lengths and the widths and multiply, or split the plot into rectangles and triangles.
How it's calculated
Rectangle: Area (sq ft) = length (ft) × width (ft).
Triangle: Area is determined using Heron's formula from the three measured side lengths: let semi-perimeter s = (a + b + c) ÷ 2; Area = √[s × (s − a) × (s − b) × (s − c)].
Circle: Area = π × (diameter ÷ 2)².
Irregular shapes: The average of the measured lengths is multiplied by the average of the measured widths.
Acreage conversion: Acres = sq ft ÷ 43,560. Hectares = (sq ft ÷ 10.7639) ÷ 10,000.
